The history of coffee dates back to 525 AD in Ethiopia. According to legend, the effects of coffee were discovered by an Ethiopian shepherd named Kaldi, who noticed that the goats he was herding refused to sleep at night after eating the fruits of the coffee bush. Kaldi shared his observations with a local monk, who prepared a drink from the fruits of the bush.
